The Ghee My Grandmother Would Recognise
Meera Sharma· Pune, Maharashtra·
I grew up watching my grandmother churn curd every morning in a wooden bilona. When she passed, that taste went with her — I tried a dozen brands and none of them came close.
The jar I ordered from Asmakam Gram arrived grainy, deep yellow, and smelling exactly the way her kitchen used to. My mother opened it, smelled it, and did not say anything for a while.
That is worth more than the price on the label.
