Millets Paid for the Roof
Kamla Bai· Panna, Madhya Pradesh·
We always grew kodo for the house, never to sell. Nobody in the mandi wanted it, and when they did, the price was an insult.
The price we get now is fixed before we sow, so I know in June what I will earn in November. Last year that certainty let me borrow for a concrete roof. The kachha roof used to leak on the grain store every monsoon.
This year the grain stayed dry.
